Lopsang Sherpa was born in Kharikhola, a village along the classic route to Everest, and grew up surrounded by the mountains that would define his career. He holds the UIAGM/IFMGA Mountain Guide carnet, the highest qualification in the world for leading climbers in the mountains, and has spent the past 14 years guiding clients on some of the world’s most demanding peaks.

Lopsang has summited Everest six times, Manaslu twice, and Lhotse once, in addition to guiding numerous expeditions on other 6,000m and 8,000m peaks across the Himalaya. His training includes courses with the Nepal Mountaineering Association, the Nepal Mountaineering Instructors Association, and international programs in rock climbing, ski mountaineering, and avalanche safety, reflecting a career built on continuous skill development alongside hands-on experience.

Beyond guiding, Lopsang is deeply involved in the mountaineering community. He serves as a Central Executive Board Member of the Nepal National Mountain Guide Association, sits on the Technical Committee of the Nepal Mountaineering Association, and holds the role of Vice President at the Khumbu Mountaineering Association. He has also played a direct role in saving lives in the mountains, including a high-altitude search and rescue on Lobuche Peak and the rescue of a fellow guide from a deep crevasse near Camp 2 on Everest.

When he’s not on an expedition, Lopsang continues training in new disciplines, having recently completed paragliding and ski certifications in France and Switzerland, always looking to broaden the skills he brings to every client he guides.
