About Benegas Brothers Expeditions
Crafting Extraordinary Journeys in the World’s Great Ranges Since 1992
Benegas Brothers Expeditions was born in the wind-swept valleys of Patagonia and shaped on the flanks of the Andes and the Himalaya. Founded by twin brothers Willie and Damian Benegas, BBE has become a name synonymous with deep expertise, tight-knit teams, and purposeful adventure.
At our core, we are climbers—lifelong mountaineers whose mission is to guide others toward meaningful summits and unforgettable human connections. What sets us apart isn’t just our experience on the world’s most iconic peaks—it’s our family approach, our attention to each climber’s journey, and our absolute commitment to safety and sustainability.
Our Story
Growing up in the mountains of Patagonia, Willie and Damian learned to climb by following in their father Rafael’s footsteps—a passionate mountaineer and glacier photographer.
This early exposure to wild, remote terrain lit a fire in the Benegas brothers to explore the world’s highest and most challenging ranges.
Since founding BBE in 1992, the brothers have led thousands of climbers across the Andes, Alps, Alaska Range, and Himalayas. Willie has summited Everest 14 times, and both brothers hold extensive guiding resumes across Aconcagua, Denali, Lhotse, Manaslu, and more. Today, BBE is a globally respected guiding company known for its personal touch, elite mountain leadership, and tight guide-to-client ratios.
Our Philosophy
Human-Centered Guiding
At BBE, guiding extends beyond the summit. It's about lifelong relationships, teaching, and mentoring. Our clients are family, never just numbers.
Safety First, Always
From route decisions to gear checks to weather calls, our priority is making conservative, informed decisions that keep our teams healthy and safe. We maintain a low guide-to-client ratio (1:2 or better) and work with highly trained IFMGA- and AMGA-certified guides.
Respect for Place
We are deeply committed to environmental stewardship and local partnerships. Whether we’re cleaning trash on Aconcagua, supporting Sherpa communities in Nepal, or promoting Leave No Trace ethics, we honor the mountains and cultures we travel through.
Climber Education
Many of our trips are designed as field schools. Whether you’re training for Everest or taking your first steps on snow, we teach self-sufficiency, technical skills, and decision-making—because a confident climber is a safe climber.
