Explore the Peaks of the USA

Custom trip Group: 1-2 people From $350 per Person

The USA is blessed with an incredible amount of open space and some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world — protected by city, state, and national parks, and accessible to guided climbing through a network of permitted concession holders. Only Willie Benegas guides these programs directly. All client-to-guide ratios are 1:2 maximum (2 clients).

Many of the most popular climbing venues in the US only allow a handful of guide services to legally operate. Where BBE does not hold its own permit, Willie works as a guest guide through established concession holders — a distinction that opens access to extraordinary places that are otherwise extremely difficult for independent guides to reach.

Guest Guide Access — Permitted Areas

Through guest guide partnerships with Exum Mountain Guides, Jackson Hole Mountain Guides, Utah Mountain Adventures, Antarctic Logistics and Expeditions, Alpine Ascents International, and Wasatch Mountain Guides, Willie can legally guide in:

  • Smith Rocks State Park, Oregon
  • Red Rock Conservation Area, Nevada
  • Moab BLM, Utah
  • Mohonk Preserve (the Gunks), New York
  • Ouray Ice Park, Colorado
  • Mount Baker, Washington
  • Eldorado Canyon, Colorado

If you want to climb in an area not listed here — just contact us. We will make it happen.

What These Programs Are For

Our alpine courses provide ideal locations to learn new skills and meet the challenges of climbing, route finding, camping, and being prepared for the unexpected. The aim is for you to lead your expedition summit attempt by the end of the week — both a very rewarding and empowering experience. Programs are built entirely around your goals, your experience level, and your timeline. For local Utah alpine climbing, see our Wasatch Alpine Climbing program.

Can Willie guide me anywhere in the USA?

Yes, with the right permissions in place. Many premier climbing areas require a permitted guide service to operate legally. Willie works as a guest guide through established concession holders — see the list above. If your target area is not listed, contact us and we will investigate access options.

What types of objectives are available?

Any alpine, rock, ice, or mixed climbing objective in the USA — from single-pitch cragging days at Smith Rock to multi-day routes in Eldorado Canyon or Ouray ice climbing. Programs are fully custom and built around your goals. Duration ranges from a single day to a full week or longer.

How is this different from a fixed-date group trip?

These are entirely private programs. You choose the objective, the dates, and the number of days. No joining a group. No compromising on route selection or schedule. More than two-thirds of Willie’s bookings are exactly this format.

What does the rate include?

All group camping and climbing equipment: tents, stoves, fuel, pots, climbing ropes, and protection hardware. Personal camping and climbing gear is not included — bring your own or arrange rentals locally. Food is not included. Willie’s travel costs outside Utah are billed separately and split evenly between clients.

Do you provide food?

Rates do not include food for guests — there are simply too many differences in tastes and preferences. You are responsible for your own food on all programs. Willie provides guidance on meal planning for multi-day trips at booking.

What is the cancellation policy?

A 20% deposit secures your booking; full payment is due 30 days prior. Cancellation before 30 days: 10% of total (half of deposit) is non-refundable. Cancellation before 10 days: full 20% deposit is non-refundable. Cancellation within 10 days: no refund. If Willie cancels for any reason other than weather or avalanche conditions, you receive a full refund. Purchase travel insurance — we cannot encourage this strongly enough.

Standard Rates — Per Day

1:1 — $600/day  ·  2:1 — $350/person/day

Extreme Days

Extreme days consist of more than 10 hours of movement, often up to 14. Depending on travel and logistics, Willie may require two standard days instead of one extreme day.

1:1 — $800/day  ·  2:1 — $405/person/day

Special Objectives

Pricing for special objectives — depending on difficulty and length — is pre-agreed with the client before booking.
