Mount Kilimanjaro stands at 19,341 ft (5,895 m), making it the highest peak in Africa and the tallest free-standing mountain on Earth. Climbing Kilimanjaro is an extraordinary journey through five ecological zones: rainforest, moorland, alpine desert, and finally the icy summit plateau.
While not technical, a Kilimanjaro ascent requires solid hiking fitness, the ability to handle altitude, steady pacing, and long days of trekking—including a midnight summit push. For many climbers, Kilimanjaro becomes their first experience above 5,000 meters.
The Rongai Route offers a quieter, more remote experience than the busy southern routes. It provides better wilderness solitude, chances to see wildlife, and wide views toward Kenya. Reaching Uhuru Peak at sunrise is a once-in-a-lifetime achievement and one of the great moments in world trekking.
Our ascent follows the Rongai Route, a scenic trail rising from the mountain’s north side. This route offers fewer crowds, a natural acclimatization profile, and the opportunity to enjoy Kilimanjaro in a peaceful, wild setting.
Benegas Brothers Expeditions partners with a premier Tanzanian guiding and porter team that operates under KPAP (Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project) fair-treatment standards. Our climbers benefit from comfortable tents, private toilet tents, professional chefs, purified drinking water, and careful daily pacing.
The itinerary includes an extra acclimatization night at Mawenzi Tarn, situated beneath the dramatic cliffs of Mawenzi Peak. Daily health monitoring, safe pacing, and high-quality logistics create the ideal environment for a successful summit and an enjoyable week on the mountain.
An optional 3-day safari extension visits Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara or the Serengeti—one of the most extraordinary wildlife experiences in the world.

Why not make the best investment you can?
I have been climbing big mountains for 20+ years. Having been on multiple Himalayan expeditions, I will never consider another guide or outfitter other than BBE moving forward. They lead the pack from a logistics, infrastructure, food quality, personal attention, and safety perspective by a WIDE margin.
